Introduction

Indian Society for Action and Research (ISAR) is a non-profit organization registered under the Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860 with registration number 01111HA. Founded by a group of researchers in August 2002, ISAR is dedicated to rural development in Uttarakhand, with a vision to become a scientific institution excelling in rural development initiatives. The organization aims to develop technologies and processes to achieve self-sustainable livelihoods for rural communities. Vision: The vision of ISAR is to transform into a scientific institution committed to excellence in rural development, striving to develop innovative technologies, materials, and services to enable self-sustainable livelihoods. Mission: ISAR's mission is to bolster the rural economy of Uttarakhand by accelerating income generation programs for marginalized communities, including women, SC/ST, and the village poor. The organization aims to bring about grassroots changes in agriculture, allied sectors, and non-farm sectors to provide basic amenities and create self-employment opportunities, thus curbing migration.
